They publish a half-cooked game with enough content to lure Patrons, and then proceed to milk said Patrons for months (or even years) by releasing shallow updates every couple months - e.g. text-changes/bug-fixes/improved dialogues. They make thousands of bucks (just check out the Patron pages of a couple) and have zero shame in blatantly doin so. Notorious examples are the devs of Rogue Evolution, Breeding Season, Summertime Saga, etc..
